The Bay Area Economic Partnership, of which Dickinson is a member city, notes a noticeable trend fueling the need and growth for a strong medical community. The U.S. Census population projections indicate that the bubble of baby-boomers will continue to grow in Bay Area Houston, especially as retirees from the East and West Coast of the United States begin to see the value of their retirement dollars going much further here.

Clear Lake Regional Medical Center (CLRMC) is a 595-bed tertiary regional referral center offering a comprehensive array of medical services for the region's growing population. The Heart and Vascular Hospital provides nationally recognized cardiac care close to home.

The Women's Center at CLRMC incorporates facilities and expertise designed to provide comprehensive health care for women of all ages.

CHRISTUS St. John Hospital is a 170-bed full-service acute care hospital located in the Bay Area Houston. The hospital offers comprehensive medical services in cardiology, oncology, intensive care, emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, gynecology, pediatrics, advanced laparoscopic procedures, cancer treatment, cardiovascular, and vascular specialties.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has opened a free-standing radiation treatment and medical oncology center on the campus.

CHRISTUS St. John Hospital boasts a nationally accredited chest pain center and is the first hospital in Texas to be a participating hospital for all three of the American Heart Association’s models of the Get With The Guidelines program: coronary artery disease, stroke, and heart failure.

The 85-acre main campus includes a complex of six hospitals, four academic schools, numerous research centers and institutes, and one of the largest medical libraries in the Southwest.

UTMB has more than 50 specialty clinics in Galveston and surrounding Bay Area communities.
