Galveston, Brazoria, Harris Counties Adopt Zip Code Evacuation Plan

In an effort to ensure a more orderly evacuation of the Galveston-Houston area when a major hurricane approaches, Galveston, Brazoria and Harris counties along with the City of Houston have adopted a “zip code evacuation plan” for the 2008 Hurricane Season.

The zip code zones are labeled Zip Zone Coastal, Zip Zone A, Zip Zone B and Zip Zone C. The Zip Coastal Zone is the most threatened geographic area and residents of these zip codes will evacuate first when a hurricane approaches.  Dickinson lies within Zone A and would be the second area to be evacuated.

The City of Dickinson's location on the Gulf Coast leave it vulnerable to tropical storm activity. Residents of Dickinson should be aware of the dangers and and precautions mandated by these storms.
