Conflict of Interest
The
Texas Legislature passed House Bill 914 in the 2005 legislative session,
which has been codified under Chapter 176 of the Local Government Code.
According to the legislation, all vendors and other persons
contracting or seeking to contract for the sale or purchase of property,
goods, or services with a local government entity must file a conflict of
interest questionnaire with the City Secretary.
As
a courtesy and in furtherance of our valued business relationship,
attached is a copy of the conflict of interest questionnaire that you are now
required to fill out and file with the City Secretary, City of Dickinson,
2716 FM 517 East, Dickinson, Texas 77539.
The Texas Ethics Commission adopted Forms
CIS and CIQ pursuant to H.B.
914. Please note that the Texas Ethics Commission does NOT have
jurisdiction to interpret or enforce Chapter 176 of the Local Government
Code. The
Office of the Attorney General issued the following advisory opinion
interpreting this law: Opinion
No. GA-0446. Additionally, attached
is a list of all city officials, as defined under Chapter 176
of the Local Government Code. If you need further assistance regarding
this form, it is suggested that you review Chapter 176 of the Local
Government Code and contact your attorney for additional instruction.
Also, for further information, please see
the following publication by the Office of the Attorney General: 2006
