The Dickinson
Police Department was established in
1983 and serves
only half of the total area of Dickinson, approximately
20,000 residents. The city is centrally located in Galveston County on IH-45
between Houston and Galveston and boasts the scenic Dickinson Bayou. Click here

Large
majestic pine trees surround this quaint
community which was
once known for it's
large agricultural trade back in
the late 1800's and even more well known for
it's wide open gambling houses back in the 1930's.
In 2011, the
Dickinson Police Department was recognized by the Texas Police Chiefs
Association for compliance with the
Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices Recognition Program.
The Police Department consists of thirty-one full time and
three part time officers. Nine
full time and six part time civilian employees augment the
officers.
The department is divided into three main
divisions, Administration,
Patrol, and C.I.D.
The Administration Division includes emergency communication
services, records management, information technology, and the budget.
The Patrol Division or uniform services division consists of two separate
sections, Patrol and the Patrol support services section. The support
service section includes community outreach officers, jail
personnel and warrant officers. C.I.D. is a specialized unit within
the Dickinson Police Department that deals with all aspects of criminal
investigations, narcotics investigations, and forensics.
We are located at 4000 Liggio Street. To get to the station you travel east on FM 517 from IH45 to Liggio Street. Liggio
is one block east of Highway 3. Turn
left on Liggio and go north two blocks. The
department is located on the left hand side of the street.
