Criminal Investigation Division 

 

 

Detective Captain Steve Krone started his law enforcement career with the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.  He came to work for the Dickinson Police Department in 1983.  He has worked as a patrolman, K-9 officer, patrol supervisor, and as the patrol commander.  

 

In addition to being the commander of the criminal investigation division he is also the assistant director of the City of Dickinson Emergency Operations Center.

Detective Craig Fos retired from the Galveston Police Department after 21 years of service (1980 until 2001).  While working for Galveston P.D, Craig spent most of his time assigned to the Crime Scene Unit where he became a well-respected field forensic investigator. Craig is a certified senior crime scene analyst, a court qualified latent print examiner, and a licensed polygraph examiner. Craig is also past president of the Southeast Texas Association for Identification and Investigation and serves as an officer in the Texas Division of the International Association for Identification. 

 

After retiring from Galveston P.D. Craig came to work for the Dickinson Police Department assigned straight into the Criminal Investigations Division as a property and evidence Detective. Craig manages the department’s property room and investigates all fraud cases.

Detective Tim Cromie has been a certified peace officer since 1985.  Tim was hired by the Dickinson Police Department as a Patrolman in September 1999 and immediately transferred to the position of school liaison officer at the Dickinson High School. 

 

In October 2002 Tim was promoted to a Detective’s position in the Criminal Investigation Division where he serves as a special crimes investigator specializing in crimes against children and sex related crimes.

 

Tim is a licensed Police Instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer License. Tim’s credentials certify him as a DARE instructor and he holds a Basic Police Juvenile Officer Certification from the Institute of Criminal Justice of Southwest Texas State University.

Property Crimes

Investigator Greg Trantham is the property crimes detective for the Dickinson Police Department.

Greg was hired by the Dickinson Police Department in November 2000. He worked in the patrol division until his assignment to Auto Crimes in August of 2003. Prior to working in Dickinson he worked for the Bayou Vista Police Department for eight years.

Sergeant John Lopez, a 26 year veteran with the Galveston Police Department (1975-2001), was hired by our agency on March 12, 2001 as a Property crimes/Major case investigator. In August of 2007 he was named the Street Operations Supervisor.

 

At the time John retired he was working as a Detective in the Criminal Investigation Division where he had twelve years experience both as a Detective and as a Narcotic Investigator.  John served on the Galveston PD SWAT team for five years and has been a Certified Hostage Negotiator for the last seven years.  John is a TCLEOSE licensed instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer License. While with Galveston John was a Field Training Officer and in charge of the Field Training Orientation program for new police officers.

Detective Frank Price came to work for the Dickinson Police Department in 2000.  He worked in the patrol division and as one of the department bike officers.  In 2003 he was assigned to the Galveston County Narcotics Task Force where he remained until the task force was dissolved.  In 2006 Investigator Price returned to the Criminal Investigation Division where he is assigned to investigate property crimes. 

 

Investigator Price started his law enforcement career with the Tiki Island Police Department in 1997. He comes from a law enforcement family, with a brother, uncle, cousin, and wife serving as police officers in other cities.

Detective Mike Henson started with Dickinson PD in February of 2004 and worked approximately 1 year on patrol before accepting the reassignment as Special Crimes investigator. Prior to coming to Dickinson PD he worked 9 years with the Sheriff's Office. He worked 2 years as a correctional officer, 6 years as a patrol deputy and 1 year as a narcotic investigator with the Galveston County Narcotics Task Force.

 

Mike is a third generation police officer. His father, Michael Henson Sr. has been a police officer for over 25 years and is currently a Bureau Commander with the Sheriff's Office. Mike’s grandfather, Gene “O.E” Henson, was the chief of police for the city of Galveston in the 1950's.
