Citizen's Police Academy

Thank you for expressing interest in the Citizen Police Academy, a program of the Dickinson Police Department.  The Citizen Police Academy is a community relations program intended to promote positive interaction between the Dickinson Police Department and the citizens of Dickinson.  Our Citizen Police Academy class will start on February 8th through May 24th.  The program’s concept is simple, better understanding through education.

The course of instruction is presented on Thursday night, 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for 15 weeks at the Dickinson Police Department.  The curriculum includes such things as:  Patrol Procedures, Criminal Law, Crime Scene Investigation, Firearms, Narcotics Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Police Communication, Criminal Records Management, and more.  The instructors are Dickinson Police Officers and support personnel with expertise in these areas.

The Citizen Police Academy is designed to be informative.  While the Department encourages citizens to become active members of our community, the Citizen Police Academy is not designed to train citizens to become civilian volunteers or police officers.  It is believed that the citizen, upon completing this program, will have a better knowledge and understanding of the Dickinson Police Department: its mission, programs, personnel, and day to day workings.  Graduates of this program interested in more involvement with the Department and the community are encouraged to join the Dickinson Citizen police Academy Alumni Association (DCPAAA).

If you are interested in applying complete the Citizen's Police Academy Admission Application.  The form should be completed, printed, and signed.  Mail or bring the form to:
