National Night Out 2011

October 4, 2011 marked the celebration of National Night Out in Texas. Throughout the City of Dickinson, citizens came together to meet each other, share information, food, and to plan to improve the safety of their neighborhoods. Officers from the Dickinson Police Department, members of the Dickinson City Council, the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department, Citizen’s On Patrol, and the Dickinson Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association fanned out throughout the city and met with and shared neighborhoods events from the past year and to plan for the future.

The aroma of barbeque, homemade pie, cakes, ice cream, and household specialties filled the neighborhoods along with the sounds of children playing and neighbors visiting. While the purpose of National Night Out is to meet and plan to make neighborhoods safer and crime free, the opportunity to meet in an informal manner and simply enjoy time with people that are not often seen on a daily basis is invaluable.

If your neighborhood is planning on meeting in the coming year and would like to be on the list to be visited by city officials and others, contact:

Terri Rogers at (281) 337.6312 or at her email - trogers@ci.dickinson.tx.us.
