The
Dickinson Police Department, and the Dickinson Rescue Committee (DIRECT)
combined to provided Christmas gifts and cheer to 36 families in the
Dickinson, San Leon, Bacliff area. The year long effort is spearheaded
by Nelda Harles of DIRECT and Lt. Arnold Moreno, commander of the
Criminal Investigation Division.
Police
officers, their families, arson investigators, DCPAAA members, DIRECT
volunteers, and Galveston County Constables assisted Santa Claus in
distributing the gifts.
Blue Santa Community Christmas Party
The
first annual Blue Santa Community Christmas Party was held on December 11th at
the VFW Hall. The party was the combined effort of the Dickinson Police
Department, the Dickinson Memorial VFW and Ladies Auxiliary, the DCPAAA,
DIRECT, the Dickinson City Council and Chuck Boyd's Blue Santa Bike run.
All
the children from Dickinson were invited for cookies and punch and to meet
with Santa. Gifts were provided to all who braved a talk with
Santa. Kids from 14 months old to 14 years old told Santa how well
behaved they had been and gave him a list of Christmas gift hopefuls.
Texas
Citizen Police Academy Alumni Convention 2004
The
Dickinson Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association hosted the 2004 Texas
Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Convention. It was held at the Moody
Gardens Convention Center in Galveston. The Dickinson Police Department
assisted in the program. On Tuesday August 24th the department hosted a
Public Safety Expo at the Lone Star Flight Museum. Police Officers,
Military Personal, Firefighters, EMTs, and Rescue Personnel were on
hand.

Mike Anzualda and Officer Asko put on a demonstration of Asko's ability to
catch a fleeing suspect.
