Sergeant
Jay Daniel Jaekel is a eleven-year veteran of the Dickinson Police
Department. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division, where he
serves as a Patrol Supervisor. His
duties include: DWI enforcement, field training, evaluation of new
officers, and supervising the day-to-day operations of his shift.
He has received Officer of the Year accommodations twice from the
50’s Club of Galveston County. Additionally,
he has received the Academic Achievement Award from the Texas Commission
on Law Enforcement.
Sergeant
Jaekel is a 1993 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, with a
Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice.
He completed Law Enforcement Training in 1994 at the Alvin
Community College Law Enforcement Department where he is currently an
adjunct instructor. He is
certified as a Masters Peace Officer as of 05-01-2004.
He is a nationally certified Drug Recognition Expert who
specializes in the detection of drug-impaired drivers.
Further, he is certified to instruct peace officers in the
techniques needed to administer the Standardized Field Sobriety Test as
determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
