Income Tax Fraud
A
local couple went to the Dickinson office of H&R Block and had their income
tax figured. They were not satisfied with the outcome, which had them
owing additional taxes, so they cancel the transaction. They had their
taxes figured elsewhere and were set to receive a small refund.
In May the
couple received a statement for an H&R Block Emerald Pre-Paid MasterCard in
their name. They had not applied for the card. The statement
indicated that over $5,500 had been deposited to the cards account in April
and that all but $1.30 had been withdrawn in a three day period. The
victims were advised by H&R Block that the account was set up as an income tax
refund from their tax return prepared by H&R Block.
The
pictured women made a withdrawal from MasterCard account at an ATM located in
Santa Fe, Texas. She got into a late model Chevrolet Avalanche.
