Flood Protection Information

The City of Dickinson is dedicated to providing information that can be helpful and guide how residents live within the community. Flooding is a major problem that can not be taken lightly, and because of that the more information residents have regarding the effects of flooding the more effective their decision making can be.

Regardless of where you live, everyone is at risk for flooding. Now is the perfect time to make sure you are knowledgeable on how to protect yourself and your property for the next flooding event or major storm. It is not a matter of if it will happen, it is about when it will happen.

Flood Maps for Galveston County

FEMA has been working on new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for all of Galveston County since 2012. The City of Dickinson received an update to these maps in February 2018. The City believes that these maps are expected to go final within the next year, the City continues in the interim to encourage all new development to build to these preliminary maps.
