GLO-CDBG-Flood Mitigation Project

The City of Dickinson was awarded $49,272,945.54 from the Texas General Land Office in the historic $2 billion Hurricane Harvey CDBG-MIT for drainage and flood mitigation projects in the City.

This large-scale infrastructure project will provide a benefit to 13,130 residents in Dickinson, of which 6,950 qualify as low-to-moderate income.

The City and the GLO held a kick-off meeting in December of 2021 and preliminary design efforts have already begun as well as the initial phases of the environmental assessment.  The City has turned in all start-up documentation to the GLO that was required by the contract and is working with the project engineer and grant administrator to move the project forward.

Design is expected to be completed in approximately 18 months and the environmental assessment should be complete in approximately 12 months.  Construction should begin in approximately May of 2023.
