We need a local farmers market in order to support small business, elevate our sense of community, and encourage people to buy local healthy produce. We could even have local musicians volunteer their time, and numerous other vendors as well. There are even options to work with the state of Texas to accept food stamps in order to provide an outlet for families to purchase healthy produce for their children even if they don't have a ton of money. The majority of neighboring communities currently have an event already. With the vast amount of small businesses in Dickinson an event like this would boost their marketing abilities and income. I have extensive experience running a market, so if you need any assistance getting this event in place I would love to help. There are many people interested in getting this underway, so we could construct a committee to oversee operations. Thank you for your serious consideration regarding this idea.

Please find below the number of times that my home was rocked by people driving by on 38th street or Texas Ave. on Friday, April 8th,2016. I have called the police repeatedly, had a sitdown discussion with the mayor, and nothing gets done. I have had no response from the police dept. Sgt. Boyd came out some months ago and stopped 4 vehicles in 15 minutes and wrote zero citations. I guess no one cares, but I promise you that this is the last summer that I will be putting up with this. Someone needs to start doing their jobs. From the mayor, city manager, police chief, captains that do not know how to respond to emails, sargants, etc.
Friday 2:12 P.M. 2:42 P.M. 4:05 P.M. 5:28 P.M. 6:50 P.M. 7:49 P.M. 8:35 P.M. 8:45 P.M. 8:47 P.M. 9:31 P.M. 10:55 P.M. 11:03 P.M. 11:20 P.M. 11:23 P.M. 1:35 A.M. This is totally unsatisfactory. Please pull a report from the police department on how many times I have called over the years. Lets do something other than write tickets and produce revenue

My 91 year old Grandmother lives on that portion of street and its so dangerous to drive. I noticed that its not on the list of streets to repave so I'm suggesting we get that street repaved for those who have gone without it being repaved in over 20+ years. I will make presentation to the City Council if need be.

Street lighting is inadequate in many areas, Excessive speed on many streets and interstate feeder roads. these are but a few of the conditions that cause visitors and those interested in locating to Dickinson question if our ability to grow our community in a positive fashion.
We must clean up and maintain our town before we can grow. Except for a few isolated sections of our town, I doubt anyone would consider making a significant investment in Dickinson. As you drive on any street in your area be concerned about your surroundings and insist that conditions improve.

Common Sense should tell us that we should have a place for festivals as well. Lets keep our egos in check and find the best place to make this the festival it should be without costing the city, and the taxpayers big money and causing heartburn to the citizens of this great town! Shutting down main street is not a good idea, and it keeps our public works dept. from doing their regular jobs for 4 to 6 weeks

Surrounding communities, ones that thrive, offer sportsplexes that cater to all ages and sports preferences. Dickinson is in great need. The city will never grow without young professionals who have small children (or who want to have small children) moving to the community and bringing with them their monies/tax dollars. A sportsplex is standard in all great communities. It's difficult to say we want to be great when we have the Little League Park we have today. I saw injury after injury (adults and children) this past spring because the maintenance is minimal and the facilities nearly dilapidated. Children were told they couldn't run or play because their parents were sure they were going to break and arm or a leg. Eventually, someone did. If we want to grow, we must invest in the children. Having a sportsplex would speak louder than words as it relates to Dickinson's commitment to growing our own.

There are two abandoned homes at Timber and 28th St in Dickinson. I would like the city to demolish or rebuild these homes. There is lots of drug activity on the other side of Timber, and these homes are just sitting and waiting for drug addicts or teenagers looking for trouble to inhabit them. It would benefit the neighborhood to have them demolished. This is a serious concern for me because my son waits for the bus right down the road, and they are both so close to the drug activity on the other side of highway 3.

I think we could all benefit from a partial quiet zone (no trail horns from 10 pm to 6 am). Citizens who wish to have a quiet zone in their neighborhood must do so through their local government. I have researched the 6 crossings in Dickinson (FM517 WB, FM517 EB, Olive St., FM646, Deats Rd. and Hughes Rd.) and we qualify since our crossings have flashing lights and crossing arms. I have also researched the accident reports for all crossings and the last accident was 03/19/95. I would be happy to share my research with the City of Dickinson and any other interested Dickinson citizen.

29th street and timber along with 30th street and timber are currently owned by the City and carry a functional classification of local streets. These two streets at these intersections are not allowed to continue through to connect because of the Centerpoint transmission line easement that cuts through the area. Presently these two right of way areas are overgrown with vegetation. These areas could be converted into neighborhood green spaces and a small neighborhood dog park. There are several families within a two or three block radius that have small children and dogs that would benefit from such a conversion. These parks along with the construction of several new homes in this area will only enhance the quality of life for the residents and increase residential home values which will increase municipal tax base.

I believe that our older neighborhoods are at a pivotal moment. I see folks trying to keep the momentum positive. Ways the city could help could be more street improvements, better drainage, sidewalks, more frequent mowing, trimming of trees and encouraging property owners to maintain there responsibilities. I would like to see Dickinson as a quiet quirky residential area. We have the older houses and established neighborhoods to support that, we just need a push in the right direction. With neighborhood improvement comes property value increase and tax revenue. This would also attack those in Houston looking to escape the enter city. People looking for a small town feel. Also, we have enough bars. Adult targeted businesses can creat problems for our law enforcement, first responders and unfortunately innocent bystanders. I would like to see a safe family friendly Dickinson for many more generations.

So far excuses after excuses is what I get. Commercial properties need to keep their places clean and parking lots stripped/painted and no potholes.
