We need a local farmers market in order to support small business, elevate our sense of community, and encourage people to buy local healthy produce. We could even have local musicians volunteer their time, and numerous other vendors as well. There are even options to work with the state of Texas to accept food stamps in order to provide an outlet for families to purchase healthy produce for their children even if they don't have a ton of money. The majority of neighboring communities currently have an event already. With the vast amount of small businesses in Dickinson an event like this would boost their marketing abilities and income. I have extensive experience running a market, so if you need any assistance getting this event in place I would love to help. There are many people interested in getting this underway, so we could construct a committee to oversee operations. Thank you for your serious consideration regarding this idea.

Please move this event to a park and/ or a place that does not interfere with the traffic in Dickinson. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is at NRG, Galveston County Fair and Rodeo is at Jack Brooks Park. Pasadena has the fairgrounds for their activities. Common Sense should tell us that we should have a place for festivals as well. Lets keep our egos in check and find the best place to make this the festival it should be without costing the city, and the taxpayers big money and causing heartburn to the citizens of this great town! Shutting down main street is not a good idea, and it keeps our public works dept. from doing their regular jobs for 4 to 6 weeks

Surrounding communities, ones that thrive, offer sportsplexes that cater to all ages and sports preferences. Dickinson is in great need. The city will never grow without young professionals who have small children (or who want to have small children) moving to the community and bringing with them their monies/tax dollars. A sportsplex is standard in all great communities. It's difficult to say we want to be great when we have the Little League Park we have today. I saw injury after injury (adults and children) this past spring because the maintenance is minimal and the facilities nearly dilapidated. Children were told they couldn't run or play because their parents were sure they were going to break and arm or a leg. Eventually, someone did. If we want to grow, we must invest in the children. Having a sportsplex would speak louder than words as it relates to Dickinson's commitment to growing our own.

Due to the increase flow of vehicles that seem to be going faster that the posted speed limit of 30mph on Timber Drive between Deat's Road & Rodeo Bend, I am asking the city to study erecting speed bumps within block neighborhood areas as to slow down the traffic that travel this street due to this increase of often speeding vehicular traffic Also a posting of a couple of speed limit signs may be required. In my view as a resident of this street something needs to be done by the city to curb speeding on Timber Drive short of a increased police presence. Thank you.

Senior Citizen are often preyed upon by deceiving contractors that knock on their doors requesting various job contracts, etc. Whether it's grass/tree cutting, concrete work, representing themselves as carpenters, painters, etc. They should be able to contact a number at the city to see if these contractors are legitimate, etc.Often seniors are being taken by such people, etc. Perhaps the city could establish a number that senior's can call when in doubt of a person at their door trying to convince them to allow such work or entry into their homes, etc. A notice can be sent out advising our senior's of such a number and what they can do to protect themselves from being ripped off, etc. After all, senior citizens are often the targets of such fraud, etc. Thank you..

Stop worrying about the little stuff like potholes and worry about the easy flooding. The other day i seen a road being redone, but whats the point because when it rains it cant be driven on with a foot of water. Is dickinson council corrupt, im starting to believe they are as much as the drug addicts and criminals here.

Who represents who within this municipality? Why not stop having just general elections with numbers and create district elections of council members and allow citizens to have a elected individual that they can respond to, etc. Yes, divide this city up into elective council districts, as the present citizens living in various areas have no voice on city council or city hall, etc. this is something that city administrators should look into formatting, etc. As I love on Timber Drive, Moore's Addition, etc. Who speaks for these citizen homeowners on the city council? This at large running of all city council ought to end, etc. Consider city wide council districts and give these citizens proper representation, etc. After all it's they who pay taxes, etc. give them a voice at City Hall, move to election Districts. Thank you.

I'd love to see a parks and recreation department be developed to benefit the youth of our community. Our high school athletic teams have continued to improve every year. Why are we not investing into the children that will be there in the near future by providing them with maintained and lighted youth sports fields where they can practice safely? I'd love to be a part of this! The young children in our city have no city sponsored positive outlets to be a part of while not in school (summer camps, athletic teams, etc.)

Thank the city crews, police, fire dept for coming out in the middle of the storm at 10:30 PM to respond to a huge Pine tree that fell across Oak St and into the top of the power lines. They waited more than a hour in the heavy rain lighting up the area to avoid needless wrecks, for the power company to shut down the power so tree could be removed.
By 1:30 PM they had to tree cut up and staged along the grassy shoulder, all the time with heavy rain.
They did a great, coordinated effort under some rough conditions.
Please thank them all for going above and beyond....

It would be great of a way could be figured out that folks that have already been impacted could utilize land fill services without being charged and that the city might consider not fining homeowners that can't arrange expedient debris pickup.
