Detective Mike Henson started with Dickinson PD in February of 2004 and worked approximately 1 year on patrol before accepting the reassignment as Special Crimes Investigator. Prior to coming to Dickinson PD he worked 9 years with the Sheriff's office. He worked 2 years as a Correctional Officer, 6 years as a Patrol Deputy, and 1 year as a Narcotic Investigator with the Galveston county Narcotics Task Force.

Mike is a third generation Police Officer. His father, Michael Henson Sr. has been a Police Officer for over 25 years and is currently a Bureau Commander with the Sheriff's Office. Mike’s grandfather, Gene “O.E” Henson, was the Chief of Police for the City of Galveston in the 1950's.
